PORT Macquarie-Hastings Council has put the call out for more nominations for the Port Macquarie-Hastings Sports Awards.

So far they have only received one nomination for the Wayne Richards Sporting Scholarship.

Previous winners include dual Paralympic gold medallist Ryley Batt along with Olympian James Magnussen along with Chase O’Leary, Lauren Kitchen and Luke Travers.

Mayor Peter Besseling reinforced the importance of the awards in helping local athletes pursue their dreams.

“Sport is significant part of our local fibre and we’ve seen many previous recipients and runners-up go on to not only represent Australia, but achieve podium finishes and reach the height of success,” Cr Besseling said.

Entries close at midnight on September 30.
