St Agnes Hostel, Maryknoll Hostel and Mount Carmel House operate within St Agnes Parish and are all conveniently located beside each other along Lochnivar Place, Port Macquarie, providing the perfect venue to host a good old fashioned fete.
A raffle, a chocolate wheel, home-made cakes, a white elephant stall, live music and a sausage sizzle, among other goodies, all aim to contribute to creating a day to remember whilst visiting the sites.
The organisers agree that it is a good opportunity to showcase the liveliness and happiness within the three facilities, demonstrating that they are a respectful environment that offers friendship and contentment. They are hoping the fete will encourage everyone to come and take a look, learn more about what each facility has to offer and dispel a few myths around aged care services.
“Our residents are excited to be welcoming members of the community into their home. They are proud of where they live and would like everyone to know that this is more than just somewhere to see out their days; it’s where they spend time with friends, receive visits from family and enjoy social activities, just like everyone else,” said Heather Nicholson, executive manager of St Agnes.
The fete will open from 9am until 1pm on Saturday, September 24 and will be held at Lochnivar Place, left of the traffic lights along Ocean Drive.
