Run and organised by the Port Macquarie Rowing Club, this year saw a 15 kilometre and a 5km distance join the regular 25km course.
Treasurer of the club and co-organiser Steve Thomas said the expansion of the race was to cater for rowers of all ages and capabilities.
The well supported event sees rowers compete from all over, as far as Mawoolamba from the North and Shellharbour from the South.
There were rowers and paddlers coming from all over NSW with Thomas declaring they almost set a new record for competitors.
“We have a lot of great sponsors. Council are very supportive as are Sails Resort by Rydges, Anaconda, Laing and Simmons Port Macquarie and Telstra Port Central,” Thomas said.
“In addition to that, terrific support from businesses around Port Macquarie saw us raise funds on behalf of TaD Disability Services in Port Macquarie by selling raffle tickets.”
Thomas said the event was a huge success, with picture perfect weather and plenty of comradery.
The fastest time of the day was in the quad skull, from Brisbane Waters Rowing Club in a time of 1 hour, 41 minutes and 21 seconds over 25km distance.
In the 15km distance, the double surf ski from Bonny Hills Surf Life Saving Club scored a time of 1 hour, 13 minutes and 44 seconds.
The fastest time in the 5km distance was in the sea kayak single Gay Robertson from Newy Paddlers in a time of 41 minutes and 37 seconds.
