Cowper MP Luke Hartsuyker on Friday outlined the multi-million dollar package.
Representatives from the steel, construction and fabrications industries from the Port Macquarie-Hastings and Kempsey areas joined owners of a range of other industries at the meeting facilitated by NSW Business Chamber regional manager Kellon Beard.
Mr Hartsuyker said we had a dynamic business culture in the Port Macquarie-Hastings and Kempsey areas and there was a lot of potential to expand.
“This meeting is about us working together; bringing manufacturers, council and business chambers together to get ahead of the game,” he said.
“The North Coast Jobs and Investment Package offers a real opportunity for local companies to match the government dollar-for-dollar to drive jobs and market growth for their businesses.”
Free trade agreements with China, Japan, Korea and Vietnam were unlocking potential export markets for our local businesses and manufacturers, Mr Hartsuyker said, so this package could provide a step up to get into these markets or increase exports overseas.
“Companies such as Akubra Hats at Kempsey and Bale Defence Industries in Port Macquarie already export their goods and there are opportunities for other North Coast manufacturers, producers and service providers in the Cowper electorate to expand their operations and break into overseas markets,” he said.
“The Jobs and Investment package has the potential to benefit some of these businesses to expand and drive their jobs and market growth, both here and overseas.”
Mr Hartsuyker also outlined his portfolio responsibilities as Assistant Minister to the Deputy Prime Minister.
The meeting with manufacturers followed Mr Hartsuyker’s mayoral and business chambers forum at Port Macquarie on August 8 to discuss the Jobs and Investment Package.
