Rick Rolfe was re-elected as the club’s president, while stalwarts Tony Wright and Bill Amy were given life memberships.
Amy, who is the current secretary, has been a member of the club for almost 30 years, involved in nippers and surf boat racing for a long time.
“It’s a big honour within the surf club. The clubs been going for quite a long time and there hasn’t been very many life members,” he said.
“It’s a very proud feeling to receive life membership and I’m looking forward to my thirtieth year with the PMSLSC.”
Wright is a former president and has also been around for many tears, winning a plethora of awards and competing in state championships.
“I was very humbled to receive it. To even be considered for it was a big shock,” he said.
“I really wasn’t expecting it. The people involved in the club are fantastic. Our surf club is a big part of the community.
“It’s also a big thank you from the club, which makes it even more special.”
Rolfe said both men thoroughly deserved their awards.
He also praised the team around him, while expressing his gratitude after re-election.
“It’s a huge honour as well as a huge work load. It’s like another job,” he said.
“In saying that, I have some really good people working with me, a new committee, a new club captain in Nikki Stafford, so that makes my job easier.”
Early next year the club will play host to a round of the North Coast Surfboat Competition.
It will bring upwards of 40 crews, consisting of about four people each, for what is quite a significant competition.
The influx of beach-goers will be tremendous for the town, according to Rolfe.
In late January the club will host a North Coast nippers branch carnival.
