A meet the candidates event will go ahead on August 28 from 10am at Lake Cathie Bowling and Recreation Club.
The Lake Cathie Progress Association has organised the forum.
Lake Cathie Progress Association secretary Sue Warner said the committee thought it would be a good way for members and the general public from Lake Cathie and the surrounding area to meet the candidates.
Ms Warner said the meet the candidates forum would be beneficial and people would be able to see what the candidates could provide.
“We all have to work together as a team – the community, the candidates and the council – and it gives the candidates an opportunity to meet the community,” she said.
Candidates will address set questions.
Ms Warner said the main issues of concern were increased parking around the lake foreshore, a set time frame for the Ocean Drive upgrade through Lake Cathie and the need for more recreation areas.
Voters go the polls on September 10 to elect a mayor and eight councillors for Port Macquarie-Hastings Council.
