On Wednesday August 17 the boys played round six of the knockout against Tamworth Public School in a nail biter.
The first quarter saw them fall behind 14-7, before they held the opposition out with more success in the second quarter.
They were down 20-13 at half time, but outscored Tamworth by one in the third quarter, making their own luck and stepping up their game.
As the boys started clawing their way back to be down 27-20, they did an amazing job in defence to steal the ball and outscore the opposition 12 points to five.
The fulltime score saw the teams drawn at 32 apiece. Coaches had to check the rule book, which determined three minutes of extra time were required.
The clock stopped at every whistle, making the three minutes seem like an eternity.
Both teams were in foul trouble with Tamworth having three players fouled out and Hastings having one.
Ultimately the Hastings Public School boys were defeated 35-34 by Tamworth.
Coach Patricia Brest said she couldn’t be prouder of her team.
The team was: Kai Marino, Jordan Trevenar, Kael Harris, Mitchell Chandler, Lenny Jensen, Lachlan Spinks, Jordan Westcott, Mason Heddles, Jacob Tonning and Riley Lee.
