Coach Chris Walsh moved Broderick from one end of the park to the other a month ago and United have kept winning.
But Broderick and Heagney will have their work cut out at Boronia Park by a ladder-leading Wallis side who are undefeated and have scored 41 goals and conceded a miserly 15.
It is simply United’s most difficult task of the season.
There is no margin for error and coach Walsh knows it.
With four rounds remaining the Green Bloods are six points outside the top five.
“It’s our biggest game of the year, no doubt about it,” Walsh said.
“We have to win.”
United are still smarting from a heartbreaking grand final loss two years ago when they hit the underside of the crossbar before Wallis scored the winner moments later.
Walsh admitted his side hadn’t forgotten about that day.
“I think some of the boys felt cheated on that day and it always sticks in the back of your mind,” he said.
Wallis claimed a 2-0 win in the last meeting between the two sides although Walsh felt his side was unlucky.
“We created chances, but their finishing was better than ours that day,” he said.
United will go into the game without goalkeeper Brock Longworth who has cartilage damage to his ribs while Andy Collins is out due to work commitments.
However, Walsh will have fully fit Brendan Prince at his disposal along with Simon Granfield.
Jeremy Rourke will take Longworth’s position between the sticks.
“I’m confident he’ll do a good job for us,” the coach said.
Meanwhile, Port Saints head to Kempsey to clash with their namesakes at Eden Street.
There is little more than pride for the Port side to play for.
Coach Mark Rogers said there was a bit of history between the two sides with the majority of players growing up and playing together.
He said there would be no shortage of motivation for his side as they attempt to finish the season on a high.
“We’ve got nothing to lose so we should be able to play without fear.
“We’ve still got plenty to play for.”
