They will clash with Southern Cross University Marlins on Saturday in Coffs Harbour in a match coach Marc Minor believes they can win.
“Each game means something to us so we’re not going to go out there and think it’s a dead rubber,” he said.
Recent form would indicate he has a right to be positive.
The Marlins were belted 150-0 by Hastings Valley Vikings last weekend and Minor knows they will be a difficult task at home.
Both sides have similar stories from matches against the Vikings this year – the Thunder were touched up 100-0.
But Minor is confident his side have turned the corner.
They trailed 40-0 to Coffs Harbour a couple of weeks ago although they drew the second half 5-all.
It is that sort of commitment which pleases the coach.
“We’ve shown we can match teams like Marlins and Coffs so we’re hoping to finish the season on a high,” Minor said.
The coach felt the season had provided an opportunity for young players to challenge themselves.
“Right from the word go we knew this season would be a difficult one, but it’s been a pleasure to be involved with a club on the rise,” he said.
