The Babylog Neonatal Ventilator is used to care for newborn babies.
The nearest tertiary neonatal service is five hours away so this equipment will be used for short-term care and stabilisation of babies who require transfer to a tertiary NICU or for babies who remain in the special care nursery.
It also enables mothers and babies to be together immediately after birth and reduces the separation of families, sometimes for months at a time.
The donation was made through the Humpty Dumpty Foundation’s ‘Good Egg Lunch’.
The annual fund raiser is hosted by Humpty Dumpty Foundation’s Patron, Ray Martin AM. This year it attracted 400 guests including Olympian Jane Flemming OAM, Humpty Dumpty Foundation Ambassador/Board Member, Wallaby great Phil Kearns, Humpty Dumpty Foundation Ambassador and Founder of the Humpty Balmoral Burn as well as Australia’s most read female columnist for the Daily Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph Miranda Devine, NINE News’ Amber Sherlock and Erin Molan, Seven Network identity Karen Ledbury, personal trainer/chef Scott Gooding and Maria Venuti.
Twenty five of the 268 hospitals across Australia supported by the Humpty Dumpty Foundation will receive medical equipment purchased at the Good Egg Lunch.
The Babylog Neonatal Ventilator was one of 39 pieces of medical equipment purchased on the day by the charity’s generous supporters. The ventilator is now in full use in the Special Care Nursery. The unit is valued at $45,960.
Foundation founder and executive chairman Paul Francis OAM said he applauds every one of its supporters for their generous and ongoing support to the foundation.
“At this year’s ‘Good Egg Lunch’, our supporters have greatly helped hospitals and health services across Australia with much-needed medical equipment that medical professionals require to care for young Australian lives,” he said.
The Humpty Dumpty Foundation has raised $55 million and continues to make a significant impact on the lives of sick and injured children at children’s hospitals and health service centres.
The Humpty Dumpty Foundation was established over 25 years ago.
