The council will pay the land owners, Matzwin Pastoral Company, $3000 in compensation, excluding GST, for the land purchase.
A roundabout will be built at the Hastings River Drive and Newport Island Road intersection but the road corridor is not wide enough to provide for the roundabout.
That is why the land acquisition is needed.
