Fifteen-year-old Matterson is originally from Coffs Harbour, but Hastings Valley Motorcycle Club president Daniel Hargy said he fell under the Hastings umbrella.
“He’s at all our local events so if you asked him where he was from he would say the Hastings,” he said.
“Oli is from Lake Innes.”
Matterson is currently in second position while eight-year-old Paterno is currently sitting in fourth position when the third round takes place at the Hastings Valley MX track.
He will hope to get use the home track to his advantage and regain third position in the division one 50cc class.
Matterson is in a very achievable position to take out the Junior Lites 125cc class where he currently sits in second position.
He is also in second position for Junior lites 250cc class.
The fourth round of the NSW Junior Motocross Championships was contested at Lake Macquarie last month.
It means Port Macquarie will host the final round after the June event had to be rescheduled due to rain.
Hargy said it would be the first time the final round of the championships had been held at the local track.
“Some of the podium finishes will be decided here and that’s exciting for us,” he said.
“We haven’t held the last round of these championships before so we’re expecting some really high-quality riders on the day.
Hargy felt by hosting an important event such as the last round it should increase their chances of hosting other races.
“After the success of our last club day recently, we’re looking forward to it.”
More than 220 competitors are expected to converge on the Hastings for the August 13 and 14 event.
“It’s one of the most prestigious events on our calendar,” Hargy said.

“We may have some local riders that could potentially podium finish on the day even if they won’t overall.”
Riders are expected to travel from south-west Queensland, Victoria and from all over New South Wales.
