Aaron Luke Ison pleaded guilty to two counts of supplying a prohibited drug, namely 1g of methylamphetamine and 28 ecstasy tablets.
Ison appeared in Armidale Local Court where Magistrate Michael Holmes was told a third charge of possessing a prohibited drug would be dealt with on sentencing.
Mr Holmes formally committed Ison to the district court for sentencing in October.
He remains on conditional bail.
The 35-year-old, who lives in Wauchope, is a prominent league player and was announced as captain-coach of the Wauchope Blues side earlier this year.
The charges stem from a police operation in February in Walcha.
Officers were patrolling a Croudace St hotel about 11.30pm on February 5 when they stopped and searched Ison.
He was found with the 28 tablets in his possession and arrested at the scene.
As part of Ison’s bail conditions, he is prohibited from entering the township of Walcha or taking drugs.
