No dogs on Dooragan please. Dooragan/North Brother is a National Park, yet I sometimes meet people with dogs on the walking trail.

Dogs have no place there, not even on the pathways, not even on a leash. Not even if you did not see the sign.
Yes, pets are important to some people, who would probably call themselves animal lovers. Do they forget the many other animals that are not pets?
Native animals need safe homes too, without intrusion from dogs or other introduced predator animals. They need National Parks like Dooragan. There are so many other places you can take your pet, if you care about animals. National Parks are also places for people to experience nature - without domestic pets.

Have mercy on the young
To all those who support same sex marriage, and you can also share the responsibility when suicide rates among the young increase; because of the confusion and turmoil it will bring to many.
Those who will be snared into wicked practices then find they cannot escape but by suicide. Indeed you shall share the responsibility, you shall not escape that. If you have any conscience, any heart, any feeling at all, think about the young.

Scam watch list
Watch out for these scams. I received two phone calls within twenty minutes on July 5.
The first pretended to be phoning from my bank to say that my credit card was being fraudulently used. I ’squashed’ this by asking which bank was calling and the person gave me the wrong bank.
The second pretended to be from Telstra Technical Department saying that my computer had been hacked into and so my Internet account was about to be disconnected.
Squashed this one by asking for a phone number to ring back on, then rang Telstra who said the number – 02 80915342 – was nothing to do with them.

Beach gear removed
On Friday 8th July about 8am, while walking on the beach at North Haven, someone may have thought that my towel, beach bag and thongs had been abandoned on the rocks of the breakwall.
I leave them there while I walk north to the four-wheel drive entrance, then walk back to have a swim. Much to my dismay, when I returned about half an hour later, all my things had gone.
I would be pleased to have them returned. Contact the Courier for my details.

Greyhound ban welcome: PETA
The news that greyhound racing will be banned in NSW and the ACT is most welcome.
As Premier Mike Baird said, this industry is responsible for the unnecessary slaughtering of tens of thousands of healthy dogs.
Now that the industry has been given notice to close down, the fate of thousands more is uncertain.
The government must ensure that the greyhound racing industry stops all breeding programmes immediately in order to make certain that there are not even more dogs in need of "forever homes".
Greyhounds are gentle, friendly dogs who love nothing better than human company, a kind word and a loving touch.
If you are thinking of taking a new companion into your home, a greyhound, or any shelter dog, will offer loyalty and affection.
