The campaign began five weeks ago after Skye Petho and her friends Necia Waghorn and Sue Jogever decided it was time to support Port Macquarie residents struggling to eat whilst paying for cancer treatment.
If We All Had Wings quickly grew after the team had an interactive wall painted and hand-held wings made.
“Every business who purchased the larger wings were invited to take part in the video. Each person says a word out of the speech ‘if we all had wings, we might just fly’ and then we’ll loop it together and make one big video,” Skye said.
In January, Skye was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent her first lot of surgery in February.
Through her cancer treatment, with the help of friends and family, Skye was able to keep her business afloat but found many others were not so lucky.
“The video will be used on our social media sites Facebook and Instagram as part of our marketing. Hopefully it will get people talking about the campaign and what we are trying to achieve,” she said.
Port Macquarie’s Michael Wilkie, of Wilkie Productions, volunteered his time behind the camera to shoot footage of the campaign’s supporters.
The best course of action was radiation, chemotherapy, drug therapy and another op.

Skye, only 39 at the time, woke up in the middle of the night in December 2015 and found a lump in her breast.
“The best course of action was radiation, chemotherapy, drug therapy and then another op to remove my ovaries because its oestrogen-based. It’s a really long journey,” she said.
However, Skye classed herself as lucky for three reasons – the type of cancer she was diagnosed with; her line of business and the support of her many friends and family.
“I am lucky because if you are going to have breast cancer you want the breast cancer that I have. It’s early stages, moderate grade but still it’s a crap journey,” she explained.
The team hope to host at least three major art-based fundraisers per year. To find out more visit the Facebook page ‘If We All Had Wings’.
