Things don’t get any easier for the Sky Blues and coach Mick Brown this week when they host Camden Haven Redbacks on Saturday.
Despite suffering a 6-2 loss to Port United in their last start, Brown believes there were still positives to be taken out of the game.
“It was a mad half an hour in the second half, but it’s been like that all season,” Brown said.
“The frustrating part for me is that we know we’re capable of much better.”
For a rare second week in a row, Brown will have a full squad at his disposal with Dakota Stafford returning from suspension.
“It hasn’t happened for a long time where we’ve had everyone available,” he said.
“And it certainly helps when that happens.”
Brown knows they face an uphill task against a free-wheeling Redbacks side who can’t stop scoring goals.
“They’re a very good attacking side who don’t just have one or two strikers, they’ve got a couple which makes it really difficult to defend against,” he said.
FC suffered a 4-2 defeat in their previous encounter and Brown said defence again would be the key this weekend.
“We’ve been working on defence at training and working on people keeping their positions,” Brown said.
FC needs to start winning if they hope to feature in the finals. They’ve run out of tomorrow’s.
“We need to win every game from here on in,” Brown said.
