It was yet another show of support for the incumbent and his quest to retain Cowper after Rob Oakeshott declared his intentions for the seat as an independent.

The duo had a site visit to the new bridge over Hastings River and met NewIDAFE Inc clients ahead of the July 2 election.

Mr Baird said he was invited by State MP Leslie Williams to meet community and business leaders.

“The Pacific Highway bridge was supported by the budget. It was great to see the progress we are making on the infrastructure there with Luke, being able to see it together was great,” he said.

Mr Baird said as the Federal election loomed people were still deciding how to vote.

“I want to make it very clear that it is important to vote for Luke. We don’t want to risk the economic growth, the jobs agenda and the capacity we have to work together which has helped us deliver projects such as the Pacific Highway,” he said.

“If we end up with Bill Shorten as Prime Minister supported by independents and Greens and a hung parliament, we end up in a position of chaos and immediately we lose confidence, we lose economic growth and we lose jobs.”

Mr Hartsuyker said it was a clear choice on July 2. Prime Minister Malcolm Turnball and former PM John Howard even weighed into the party’s backing of Hartsuyker for Cowper ahead of Rob Oakeshott.

“It is a very clear choice between a representative who will be part of a Coalition Government as opposed to the option of an independent being part of a shambolic and chaotic potential Labor/Greens alliance.”
