Give Oakeshott credit
I cannot believe the Nationals. They have spent the whole nine weeks of the campaign complaining that the failure of the three years of Coalition government was a lack of cooperation from Independents and minor parties in passing legislation.

Now they are cruising Rob Oakeshott for supporting the government of the day by doing just that.
In fact they should be giving Rob Oakeshott a lot of the credit for the fact that Australia came out of the GFC with an AAA rating.

Don’t forget the past
How desperate are the Nationals in the Cowper electorate that all they can do is rubbish Rob Oakeshott.
All the ads are saying Don't Vote for Rob Oakeshott. I noticed went I went online to look at the local paper the top of the page was all about how not to vote for him.
I hope people don't forget all the good he did for the Port Macquarie region especially the hospital and cancer unit. Also how when the Nationals got in they tried to claim credit for his good work. They haven't done a great deal since they got the seat back.
He would have been a real hero if he had gone with the coalition and you would have treated him with a bit more respect.
I thought a local member was to do the best he could for his electorate regardless of what party he stands for. I think the Nationals are running scared and with good reason.

Campaign of lies
Rob Oakeshott is not afraid to have the difficult conversations, to fight for our community, and have a voice with conviction in Parliament.
The grubby, lie ridden campaign of the Nationals needs to be put into perspective. They are worried that the man who actually 'did' achieve for the electorate threatens their 'safe seat'.
Others may have cut the ribbons, but it was Rob Oakeshott who is responsible for securing funding for infrastructure including the Base Hospital expansion, the Rehabilitation Unit at the Private Hospital, the Pacific and Oxley Highways, Charles Sturt University Campus, and the building of the new Medical Education Campus, which provides the full medical degree through the University of NSW.
Before believing what is splashed our TV screens, take the time to visit Rob's website, www.oakeshott.com.au, and read about his other achievements, the truth about his policies and media statement in regards to ' Preferences'.
You can choose to stay living in a ‘safe seat', where your MP can safely continue to do nothing, and avoid having those difficult conversations, or you can vote for change to an MP whose work ethic is proven, and will be 100% accountable to the electorate.

Vote with your head
Cowper cries out to the voters of the electorate of Lyne who had the fortune to elect Rob Oakeshott, with a 75% primary vote, and to receive the benefits of his work.
Now the old Cinderella electorate of Cowper needs his magic wand.
Look what the Coalition want to saddle us with: not only a National Party "sitting" member but one that has been dumped by the Prime Minister and, get this, by his own National Party boss, Barnaby Joyce.
What more could you want than someone that is not even wanted by his own handlers?
The answer is obvious, we need someone that does not have to follow party lines, who has the proven ability to gain benefits for the areas and who is young and enthusiastic for the outcome of his position. Rob Oakeshott, that's who Cowper needs.
Twelve million for a medical wing on SCU is a pittance. Turnbull and his cronies will spend more than that in the first month on "study tours" around the world.
Vote with your brains and not your Old School Tie.

We deserve better
For health reasons, 12 months ago I left the Tamworth region and headed for Port.
I had been an ardent supporter of Tony Windsor because for the 20 odd years I'd watched him, he stood up to state and federal governments and made them listen.
He was responsible for decentralisation and for infrastructure funding for his and other regional electorates. He took the neglected safe blue ribbon seats of New England federally and Tamworth at a State level and turned them into swinging seats. Pretty to watch.
When he and Rob Oakeshott assisted Ms Gillard to form Government, I was surprised. However, I thought at the time, they have had time to sensibly consider what they are doing and clearly know a lot more about what goes on in Canberra than the rest of us.
I've recently read Nikki Savva's book on the Abbott/Credlin management style and believe that Tony and Rob got an early look at the dysfunctional workings of that potential Prime Ministerial team.
I arrived in Port to find no NBN and an NDIS that we supposedly aren't going to see until 2018! I don't know whether other parts of the Cowper and Lyne electorates are any better off than Port.
I suspect not and I suspect not because they are both electorates held by the National Party. Governments buy the votes of (suck up to) electorates held by their opponents. It's just not fair!
