A former Australian Rugby player with the Wallabies, James will present to the Young Guns about building character and integrity. His presentation focuses on learning resilience and character through the struggles we face.
During the time he played professionally at international level his career was interrupted with injuries. But through the injuries James learnt to deal with setbacks and mastered focusing on the events you can control.
This ‘learned optimism’ is essential to boost your mental toughness and get you through difficult times. “It’s important to be 100% responsible for every decision you make. To understand what you stand for and walk accordingly,” said James.
In a world where sports people often compromise everything to reach goals James is a huge advocate for finding the balance.
“My presentation will challenge Young Guns to think about how to go wholeheartedly after what you want without fear of falling short. Living wholeheartedly is often about being vulnerable and expressing emotions in a healthy way,” he added.
Holbeck grew up in Armidale and now calls Port Macquarie home. His consultancy offers coaching to sports people, corporates and young people nationwide.
Whether you're an aspiring sportsperson or looking for positive mindset techniques James story will give you valuable lessons for living a grounded life and achieving your goals. His presentation will challenge young people to embrace heartbreak and failure to mould us into brilliance.
Sports clubs, coaches and schools are encouraged to sponsor a Young Gun to help them attend Luminosity and see James live at the Glasshouse.
