The Tastings on Hastings festival aims to showcase the region’s farmers, artisans, food producers, wine growers, brewers, restaurants and cafes.
The 2013 event had 38 exhibitor sites featuring farmers and producers drawn from a 160 kilometre radius.
That number jumped to 41 in 2015.
Cr Trevor Sargeant said the event’s original focus was primary producers.
“The number of primary producers, according to the report, is not only stable, they continue to grow and I think that justifies, in my mind, ongoing support into the future,” he said.
A report about previous event comparisons went before Port Macquarie-Hastings Council’s June meeting.
Considerable changes to the event occurred from 2014 to 2015.
The report said these changes were reflected in the financial comparison presented.
“Tastings on Hastings continues to demonstrate significant economic and community value, and there is strong and consistent engagement by our region’s producers,” the report said.
The council noted the information in report about previous event comparisons and requested general manager Craig Swift-McNair bring a report on this year’s Tastings on Hastings to the December council meeting.
