He doesn’t remember much about his first game other than he was playing with his twin brother and older brother when he was only 14.
Long believes the biggest change in 200 games is in the skill level of players.
“It’s a lot quicker and the younger kids that are coming through have got a lot better skills so there’s not too many dropped balls,” he said.
The Magpies don’t know what to expect from the Bombers.
“Ballina are second in their conference so they’ll be pretty tough, but we haven’t lost a game against the cross-conference teams,” Long said.
The Pies head into the match in equal-first position on the ladder after losing the outright lead during last week’s loss to Sawtell.
“We’re confident with the team we have to get the premiership,” Long said.
The match on Saturday starts at 11.30am.
