They have also qualified for the NSW CHS State Championships which will be held at a venue to be determined in early August.
The girls of 2016 are following in the footsteps of previous successful WHS girl’s rugby teams. In 2012 the girls finished second in the state, they were first in 2013, second in 2014 second and fourth in 2015.
The girls will be proud to wear new jerseys which have been sponsored by Donnelly Constructions, a building company from Sydney. Donnelly Constructions completely paid for the jerseys.
Matt Taylor the coach of the girls ran into an old rugby mate Adam Donnelly at the recent Hong Kong 7’s rugby tournament. Whilst chatting with Adam, Matt mentioned that he coached the mighty Wauchope High School rugby girls.
One thing led to another and Adam said that his company would like to buy a set of jerseys for the girls. A very generous offer. The jerseys were designed by Kitiara Porter who is in her fifth year of rugby at school and they look fantastic. The girls are delighted with them. A huge thank you to Adam and Donnelly Constructions for their generosity.
The girls look terrific in their new jerseys and are proud to have such impressive gear to wear.
Season 2016 has seen them defeat Great Lakes College twice, St Clare’s High School twice, St Joseph’s Regional and McKillop College. They also had a draw with Macksville High School.
They have scored 225 points and have had 75 points scored against them. This includes them scoring 45 tries and having only 15 scored against them. They had one loss to St Joseph’s Regional at the U14 level. So it’s been a successful year so far.
