Ten farms opened their gates to the public and were amazed at the response.
Most farm tours were at full capacity and products on show and for sale sold fast.
Hastings Landcare held the event to connect farmers with the community, and to showcase good farming practices.
For instance ‘Shenstone’, an urban farm in the middle of Wauchope, showed residents their recycled way of living.
Redbank Organic Farm showcased their dairy cows and organic chooks, with a large focus on recycling nutrients and improving soil.
Koree Herbs took residents on a tour of their garlic and essential oil trees.
Plenty of questions were asked from the public about their organic practices.
Jan Olive, of Koree Herbs, said each tour was popular and the crowd was, at times overwhelming.
“It was magnificent to see so many people interested in what goes on here,” she said.
Ewetopia gave tour-goers a chance to taste their yoghurt and milk whilst explaining the milk and cheese making processes.
Gromorbeef on the Oxley Highway educated residents on their breed, Bonsmara Stud.
Newbies to the tours, Booyong, held walks through their conservation forest area, pointing on the important flora and fauna. The new owners Brett and Michelle Williams were thrilled to open their gates to the wider public.
Ticoba Farms, over the Hastings Valley, showed their land used for planting avocados and blueberries.
Barbushco, not generally open to the public, featured their certified organic Australian native food trees and treated tour-goers with an opportunity to try their bushfood products.
Garlic, ginger and turmeric were discussed at Benaroon Farm.
Lastly, Port Oyster Company treated residents to a first-hand view of the farms.
