OSPREY chose a precarious spot to begin nesting between Laurieton and North Haven; a crane on the Stingray Creek Bridge construction site.
"On Friday May 20 material was identified being brought to the boom of the 110T crawler crane by an osprey likely to be the early stages of nest preparation," said Port Macquarie-Hastings Council's group manager Gary Randall.
"It was determined that the material needed to be removed for the safety of the osprey and site workers.
"An ecologist was phoned on Tuesday.
"It was confirmed there would be no significant impact to the threatened species by removing the material.
"The nesting period of the Osprey is typically June to October so it was considered prudent to remove the material early in the season to allow the osprey to establish a nest in a more appropriate, natural location," Mr Randall said.
