May 31 marks the NSW Cancer Institute’s World No Tobacco Day where Port Macquarie resident’s are being urged to quit.
Mid North Coast Local Health District manager of health promotion Ros Tokley revealed smoking was, by far, the best thing resident’s could do to improve their health.
“Reduce your risk of smoking-related diseases, improve your general wellbeing and that of your family, and save money,” he said.
NSW Quitline recommended some top quit tips, including: setting a quit date, thinking about triggers and changing routines and habits, reduce caffeine and alcohol intake, organise a quit support team and plan rewards for meeting goals.
