Bourhan Hraichie, 18, faced the local court on two charges via Audio Visual Link from Goulburn jail.
Hraichie is charged with, cause grievous bodily harm to a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and intentionally choke/suffocate his fellow cellmate Michael O’Keefe on April 7.
Hraichie is set to re-appear before Port Macquarie Local Court on June 23.
The accused is alleged to have carved ‘E4E’ – short for ‘eye for an eye’ – into the forehead of O’Keefe.
