Hastings Co-op has released centenary pins available for purchase with all funds being donated to the Port Macquarie Base Hospital maternity unit.
CEO Allan Gordon said the pins were never a money-making exercise for the co-op.
"We wanted to release the pins and they looked so good that we thought why not celebrate our one hundredth year and give back to the community at the same time," he said.
"We picked the maternity ward because we have a long association with the hospital; we do many different things with them. We find sometimes the maternity ward misses out so we thought this would be a perfect opportunity."
If all pins sell out, the donation will be a sum of $12,500 for the maternity ward.
Port Macquarie mother of now three, Emma Saliba, was happy to hear the maternity ward would be supported through the pin sales.
"Ayla was born at 10.30pm on Wednesday, April 27 and I have also had two boys Jai and Rory here at the base hospital," she said. "I think this is a great initiative because the hospital is extremely important and need all the help they can get, especially being a rural facility," Emma said.
The pins will be available at the region's 13 Hastings Co-op businesses.
"We hope they sell well and we encourage the community to get out there and support this so we can give a large donation to the ward at the end of the year," Mr Gordon said.
Mid North Coast Local Health District chief executive Steward Dowrick said 100 years of service to the Hastings community was a remarkable achievement.
"We are particularly grateful that the co-op has decided to focus part of that celebration on raising money for a service that supports families through the region," Mr Dowrick said.
