Lyne MP David Gillespie and Luke Hartsuyker from Cowper spent Friday morning touring the school together during a funding announcement.
Newman is in the middle of an almost $3 million project to build an extra specialist classroom and learning areas.
The Federal Government is contributing more than half of the project's funds, which will focus on refurbishment of the hospitality training area.
The remainder of the funding is being provided by the school community.
Dr Gillespie said the benefits of the project were twofold: it will improve learning and teaching for students and teachers, and will boost Hastings employment during construction.
"We are committed to helping equip all Australian students with the skills they need to succeed in an increasingly competitive world," he said.
Their visit came just hours after both had been ruled out of leadership positions in the National Party.
The duo gave a master class in keeping calm and carrying on despite the distractions of party politics.
Dr Gillespie seemed to enjoy showing his colleague around the school, which will fall within Cowper after the election.
The experience did not appear difficult for Mr Hartsuyker, who spoke with students 48 hours before he would be dumped from the frontbench.
