The Drag Hero event is presented by Hastings Equal Respect and Opportunity and will be hosted by Maxi Shield and Carmen Geddit.
Among the seven "gurls" competing is Holly Wood, also known as Sam Merryfull.
"It takes three hours to get ready," the 25-year-old said.
His routine includes shaving, covering his eyebrows, contouring his cheek bones, applying makeup, ensuring his wigs are styled and his costumes are sparkling.
"I have to thank Costume Conundrum and On the Fringe for their support."
He chose his name because he likes the mixture of innocent glamour and mysterious sensual side of old style Hollywood, a la Marilyn Monroe.
Choosing the song he will lip-sync to in the four-part competition takes equal contemplation.
"I downloaded a heap of songs because this time I meant to go all out", Mr Merryfull said.
He certainly has the background to get him to the podium having trained as a dancer with Francessca Louise Academy of Dance, and later with Wauchope and Port Macquarie Performing Arts and Extreme Dance Studio; and performed in productions at Players Theatre.
The Wauchope drag queen will strut the catwalk in a wedding inspired outfit and perform a comedy skit.
For his diva piece he has chosen a tribute to Celine Dion: "after everything she has gone through lately".
His lip-sync performance is to Lady Gaga's Aura.
Watch out Vanity Wild, Indi Pendent, Lucy Furr, Honey Moonshine, Rhea Listik and Ziggy Discoballs, he means to win that crown.
"I'll show those city girls it's not all about the city," he said.
There is a silent auction on the night, canapes and a photo booth.
A portion of the profits will be donated to the Bago Magic Performance Group.
Tickets are $35 and available at the venue.
