However, a few things I would like to note are:
1) Prior to introducing this bylaw change, we discussed it with Basketball NSW, who were supportive.
2) We advised the parents likely to be affected by this local bylaw change 3 months ago and discussed the implications. So, it has been their choice to play representative basketball for Bellingen and they were aware of the implications.
3) This is no different to many other local sports, where it is a condition of playing in a local comp that you make yourself available for local representative teams.
Our committee and volunteers are working hard for our local basketball association, developing a culture whereby our local kids want to play rep basketball and are proud of representing Port Macquarie Basketball.
