After a week where humidity levels were high, the mercury headed into the 30s and the beach was a good place to be, conditions are on the decrease. Sun will be replaced showers and temperatures will hover in the mid-twenties.
Weatherzone meteorologist Guy Dixon said surfers looking for a wave as the swell increased would more than likely also be disappointed.
"Quality surf is looking negligible due to those gusty southerlies which will have an impact," he said.
"The thing with these sort of systems is that those winds will bring some moisture to the coastal fringe so showers will persist."
Today won't be a day to do the washing with five to 10 millimetres of rain expected to fall across the region.
"It's look like being an inside day," Mr Dixon said.
Port Macquarie will head for a top of 26 degrees today, 26 tomorrow and 27 on Sunday.
"You can knock a degree or two off the temperature for Friday with the showers and winds."
The sun could make a brief appearance or two throughout Saturday with some breaks in the cloud expected.
Encouragingly, as the weekend progresses the weather is expected to improve with Sunday thought to be the pick for those wanting to dip the toes in the ocean.
"Sunday morning will be the best time for surfing and swimming."
