THE continuous rain during the first half of last Thursday decimated the field in the single stableford at Port Macquarie Golf Club with only 76 players hitting off and many of those not completing their round.

Brent Conroy was the only player to better his handicap and he took out the net event. Playing from a handicap of 10, Conroy played the back nine first and turned with 16 points before making an excellent 22 points around the front.
His score of 38 points was two points better than the rest of the field. Around the front he had eight pars to go with a bogey at the eighth hole.
Young Ollie Payne, playing mid-week for the last time before returning to school, made 36 points from his handicap of four to be the runner up on a countback. Josh James was third after making 17 points out and 19 home, the same as Payne. The pair also had the same number of points for the final six holes but Payne had a three pointer at the 18th hole to James' two pointer.
Stefan Walker took out the scratch score with a one over par round.
The ball competition went down to 27 points.
Don Williams won two nearest to the pins and the others went to Josh James and Gavin Roberts.
