The 76-year-old was the guest of honour at a special 'thank you' function at Port Macquarie Base Hospital this week, after reluctantly deciding to slow down her fundraising efforts due to ill health.
Mid North Coast Local Health District Chief Executive Stewart Dowrick, the hospital's Acting General Manager, Jane Evans, and Acting Director of Nursing & Midwifery Services Alan Pretty attended the Pink Ladies meeting to express their gratitude to a woman who has dedicated much of her time in the past six years to fundraising for hospital equipment.
Mr Dowrick used the occasion to thank the Mid North Coast's 558 Pink Ladies and Hospital Volunteers for their 101,000 volunteer hours in support of local hospitals and community health centres.
"It's a pleasure to be able to thank one in particular today Margaret Moran for all she has done," he said.
Ms Evans also spoke of Mrs Moran's dedication.
"I want to thank you for your hard work over a long period of time. $36,000 makes a big difference to our hospital," she said.
Also attending the function was the United Hospital Auxiliaries North Eastern Regional Representative, Mrs Phillipa Passfield, who encouraged Mrs Moran to join the Pink Ladies after the death of her husband Don in 2010. The pair have been friends ever since.
