Caleb's family has been left with a huge financial burden after the youngster had a stage four medulloblastoma tumour removed last year.
A fundraiser for the family is organised for Sunday at Port City Bowling Club.
Trivia and raffles are planned.
Caleb returned home to Port Macquarie on November 20 after finishing radiation treatment.
In the days leading up to coming home it was determined that Caleb had lost too much weight and a nasal feeding tube was inserted.
"Since returning home we thought we'd see some good improvements with appetite and energy," his mother Suzanne Turpie said.
"Sadly we didn't and he felt the effects of radiation for nearly the whole time we were home, including vomiting.
"It was a hard few weeks for him and he was still very tired after the return home."
Unfortunately Christmas was not a joyful time for Caleb who suffered fatigue and had zero energy to enjoy the festive season.
"After Christmas was also hard as the focus suddenly was on returning to Sydney on the for more tests and insertion of a central line before starting chemotherapy," Suzanne said.
"Caleb was quite distressed leaving Port Macquarie and we are constantly trying to get him to smile or laugh as he's pretty miserable at being here."
Chemotherapy began on Thursday, January 8 with Suzanne hoping her son continues to battle through this rough stage to come out the other side.
"We've not managed to put weight back on him but we've at least maintained it and held it steady," she said.
"It's been a tough few months but I think they are going to get tougher still."
With support desperately needed the ongoing efforts of family and friends continue to paint the wonderful community of Port Macquarie in great light.
Sunday's fundraiser is being organised by Robyn Conroy, a close friend of the family.
"Suzanne is a good friend of mine. I'm doing what I can to help the family because with Suzanne having to give up work to care for Caleb it has left a huge finical burden," Robyn said.
"It is a stressful time for them I am doing what I can to raise as much money as possible to help assist them financially to help get Caleb through his chemo treatments."
