Port Macquarie and Telegraph Point will be in the Cowper electorate, held by The Nationals' Luke Hartsuyker.
The remainder of the Port Macquarie-Hastings local government area, including Wauchope and the Camden Haven, will remain part of Lyne held by The Nationals' Dr David Gillespie.
The augmented Electoral Commission for NSW on Thursday announced the outcome of its deliberations on the names and boundaries of the 47 federal electoral divisions in the state.
Dr Gillespie said the Australian Electoral Commission had made its determination and while he was disappointed to lose Port Macquarie from the Lyne electorate, he would still be looking after half of the Port Macquarie-Hastings local government area.
"When it is formally gazetted and it's official, I will look forward to catching up with the interests of the expanded electorate," he said.
The names and boundaries of the federal electoral divisions for NSW will apply from February 25 when a notice of determination is published in the Commonwealth Government Notices Gazette.
Federal elections after this date will be contested on the new electoral divisions.
Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour will be in the Cowper electorate under the changes.
