The property sold on Gumtree for an undisclosed sum with the new owners indicating they are considering options for the site.
Some clearing and restorative works have already been completed.
Fantasy Glades was once one of the most well-known tourist attractions in the Hastings.
Previous owners Shane and Karen Hay had planned to return Fantasy Glades to its former glory but regretfully put the site on the market.
“We are pretty sad about it because we had big plans,” Mrs Hay said.
“The reason we sold the property was because we found that our life had taken on a somewhat different path here in Queensland.”
The story of the former Fantasy Glades site dates back to the 1960s when George and Rosemary Whitaker, their two children James and Lynette, and Rosemary’s parents, Aub and Lin Gribble, moved to Port Macquarie from Sydney with a vision to create a theme park based on the world’s most popular Brothers Grimm fairy tales.
The park opened in August 1968. In 1987, it was sold to the Spry family and Brian Hutchinson, who operated the park until its closure in 2002.
The Hays purchased the property in 2009 with a vision to bring Fantasy Glades Back to life.
They regretfully put the property on the market in November 2013.
Mrs Hay thanked their supporters for “coming together with a common interest for the history of the property”.
The Fantasy Glades Facebook page still exists.
Mrs Hay said the interest in the Facebook page showed many people had wonderful times at Fantasy Glades. “Most of the people are adults now and they have their own children,” she said.
“These adults desperately wanted to share the memories with their own children,” she said.
Mrs Hay hopes people will continue to share their memories of Fantasy Glades on the Facebook page.
