ZAC Bruen admitted he didn't know what to do when he claimed his third wicket in three balls on Saturday.
He had a day out during Macquarie Hotel's second grade win over Wauchope RSL.
His hat-trick was part of a successful day with both bat and ball which included a five-wicket haul, a quick-fire 32 with the bat and a run-out.
"There wasn't much I didn't do, I was like a magnet to the ball, everything just kept coming to me," he said.
"It was finally good to get something with the ball because I hardly get anything ever."
Bowling medium-pace which he described as "like spin in first grade", Bruen took five for 17 in six overs including the hat-trick in the one over.
"The first one went to gully and then the second one went to first slip before he edged the third one straight to gully again ... I've never taken a hat-trick before," he said.
"I only bowl medium pace; I'm not real quick but I do the job."
Earlier in the day Bruen ventured out to the middle with bat in hand and belted four fours and a six which helped his side to 6-185 and set up his performance in the field.
"We batted first and I went and hit a quick thirty-odd so it was good."
While happy with his figures Bruen said he would be happy not to bowl again for the rest of the season.
"I don't want to have another bowl. I want to keep my figures as good as they are now," he laughed.
"I've got 12 wickets so far this season, but I won't be playing first grade any time soon. I'll probably get slapped around for 60-odd and get a duck this weekend."
