A 60-year-old man was taken to hospital after slipping down an embankment at a Port Macquarie beach on Wednesday.

Ambulance and the State Emergency Service were called to Shelly Beach at 4.30pm after reports a man had slipped down an embankment at the southern end of the beach.
The man was transported to Port Macquarie Base Hospital by NSW Ambulance.
A hospital spokesperson said the man is in a stable condition.
