Essential Energy was alerted to downed powerlines near the Fishermen's Co-op in Laurieton at 11.10am which affected power supply to 1065 people.
By 12.30pm crews had managed to restore power to 132 residents.
An Essential Energy spokeswoman said the remaining homes would be back on line by 4.30pm and the provider would investigate what caused the problem.
A tree also took down an estimated 100 metres worth of power line at Blackman's Point.
That outage affected 57 customers with the majority back online by 12.30pm.
A strong wind warning has been issued for the east coast of Australia from Byron Bay in the north to the Eden Coast in the south.
