While the Brisbane Broncos and the North Queensland Cowboys fight for premiership glory there will be a similar battle raging between Deon Glassie and his 12-year-old son Kaia. But it will be bragging that will be the spoils with the winner able to gloat for the next 12 months that their team are premiers.
Glassie senior, a talented and hard as nails player in is own right, is a die-hard Broncos supporter.
But when quizzed, he had no recollection and opted not to comment on Broncos' skipper Justin Hodges controversial escape from suspension for the grand final game earlier in the week.
Glassie showed as much grace sidestepping the question as Sam Thaiday's footwork at the line.
But he was adamant his Broncos would come out winners on Sunday predicting a 24-12 scoreline.
A confident Glassie went on to list Anthony Milford as man of the match, Alex Glen as first try scorer and Justin Hodges as last try scorer.
The quietly confident Kaia was more prepared to let the game talk for itself but predicted a magical Jonathon Thurston field goal to be the difference in a 17-16 victory for the Cowboys.
