Some people believe the best way to describe spring is a fight between summer and winter and the weather conditions on Friday would back that theory up.
Rain tumbled down on Friday morning but Weatherzone meteorologist Rob Sharpe said it would not become a consistent sight throughout this weekend - the first in September.
"There could be some brief showers throughout the weekend, but Port Macquarie itself should remain pretty dry," he said.
"Friday's conditions are due to a low pressure trough which is moving north up the coast and behind that are moist south to southeasterly winds."
Mr Sharpe said Saturday would be the pick of the days with mostly sunny conditions forecast and a top of 21 degrees.
High cloud would be the order of the day on Sunday, but Mr Sharpe did not believe there would be too many showers throughout the day with a maximum of 20 degrees expected.
"Go ahead with your plans if you're planning on spending Father's Day outdoors, but maybe take a brolly with you just in case," he said.
"Port Macquarie is only looking at one millimetre of rain over the entire weekend."
He said inland areas such as Kempsey were more likely to receive more rainfall and a top temperature of 22 degrees on Saturday and 21 on Sunday was expected.
Next week is looking mainly dry.
