The Australian Professional Golfers Association (PGA) is the event's promoter and Port Macquarie Holden is the local sponsor.
The opening round is played as a four person ambrose and in later rounds each qualifying team will be joined by a professional golfer.
The winning team, with a net score of 58.25 after having 64 off the stick, consisted of Ross Radford, Nick Conditsis, Jeff Lynch and Terry Hoare.
The highlight of their round was an eagle two at the par four 11th hole.
They also made five birdies in their 34 out and 30 home. The fractions in the net score come about because the team's handicap is one eighth of their combined handicaps.
Stefan Walker, Ian Newton, Tom James and Jackson Jubelin made eight birdies for 63 off the stick but they had less handicap than the winners and finished second with a net score of 58.625.
Third place went to Chris Bradtke, Andrew Bourke, Blake Poulter and Ryan Poulter with net 60 and fourth was the team of Craig Mutton, Mark Firman, Matt Cutcliffe and Josh Peir who made 60.375 net.
Shane Moran, Greg Christie, Col Purcell and Ross Turner won the final net prize with 60.75.
Lily Baker and Chris Bradtke took out the long drives and the nearest to the pins were won by Dave Dahler, Tom James, Neale Johnson and Craig Mutton.
The leading two teams have qualified for the next round which is to be played at Bonville on October 26, where they will be joined by club professionals James Single and Will Gunn.
The top teams at Bonville will then progress to the National Final to be played at Twin Waters at the end of the year.
