The relay launched on May 8 at the Sydney Opera House and Mrs Barlow will complete the round trip on Thursday.
Mrs Barlow's policing career in the force was ultimately cut short by a vicious attack in Sydney's Kings Cross.
She later wrote a book, Left for Dead, about her journey.
Before the attack Mrs Barlow was considered as one of the top up and coming sergeants and was tipped to become the country's first female police commissioner.
Eventually, Mrs Barlow and her husband Laurence both left the force.
Despite the incident that almost took her life, Mrs Barlow still believes she had the "best job in the world".
"It was really nice to be thought of and to be included in the relay," she said.
"Every time we get a chance to do something with them (police) we jump at it.
"It's like a big family."
The Barlow's now spend time on the motivational speaking circuit using their own experiences to inspire people.
In her spare time Mrs Barlow has managed to fit in triathlon training planning to tackle this year's Port Macquarie 70.3 event, something that has put her in good stead to complete tomorrow's relay run.
"When they told me it was only a kilometre I was a bit disappointed it could have been a bit longer," she joked.
