Industry Mid North Coast Executive Director Jill Follington said Expo organisers were excited to have secured Marita Cheng as the keynote speaker, as she had demonstrated vision and leadership beyond her years and is dedicated to encouraging you people, and women in particular, to pursue careers in engineering.
"Marita is an engaging, intelligent and informed young woman who will no doubt energise the Expo attendees with her contagious enthusiasm," Ms Follington said.
"She is living proof of what is possible for young people working in the exciting and ever-changing world of engineering and manufacturing."
Ms Cheng was founded Robogals in 2008 in response to the traditionally low levels of women in engineering and technology. The business has run workshops in more than 300 schools across Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States and Japan.
A former panellist on ABC TV's New Inventors, Ms Cheng serves as a Board Member for the Foundation for Young Australians and has received a Nancy Fairfax Churchill Fellowship, and International Youth Foundation YouthActionNet Fellowship and an Anita Borg Change Agent Award.
Ms Follington said, "The Expo will showcase the clever, innovative businesses we have across the Mid North Coast, while also highlighting the exciting opportunities that exist in the manufacturing and engineering sectors for young people currently considering their career options."
The Manufacturing and Engineering Expo will be held at Newman Senior Technical College. Head to www.imnc.com.au/expo to register to attend the free exhibition, and to purchase tickets to the Marita Cheng keynote presentation and the Industry Networking Evening .
