The company expanded their operations into Denver, Colorado in 2014 on the back of a US$260 million contract with the US Department of Defence to build Bridge Erection Boats for the US Army.
The company has a long-standing reputation for producing high quality results in marine vessel manufacturing, refurbishment and maintenance, for one-off new builds or whole fleets.
To get to this point, they acquired the Arkansas based North American Marine Jet company in 2011, renamed it NAMJet and relocated it to Denver in Colorado.
Director Strategy Mark Leach said company CEO Jamie Bruce had always been confident the local company could break into the global market.
"While the NAMJet manufacturing plant is located in the USA at this time, the opportunities are enormous and may lead to further facilities at other global locations. That said, the heart and soul of the company will always be in Port Macquarie," he said.
"Through a process of restructure and continual improvement, the engineering and manufacturing teams were significantly enhanced and the products were upgraded to maximize thrust, durability and speed. This resulted in a far superior product in the niche market in which thrust is critical and how NAMJet became one of the leading manufacturers of U.S. designed waterjets."
In addition to that contract the company recently received news their fully owned subsidiary of Birdon (NAMJet) would have an input into some of the marine vehicles.
"It has provided Birdon with tremendous credibility and an excellent reputation amongst the U.S. prime contractors as well as the government itself," Mr Leach said.
"The process to secure a U.S. government contract is intense with significant amounts of scrutiny right across the organisation.
"Given the product, we feel that there's incredible opportunities available to us globally."
