Saints could steal second
PORT Saints could set up a blockbuster last round against Camden Haven Redbacks next weekend if they are to knock off Wallis Lake tomorrow.
A win for Saints would get them into second place on the Football Mid North Coast Premier League ladder, but given Lake has a catch up match against Rangers on Sunday, it could be temporary.
But if Saints win, then Rangers beat Lake, it would be one versus two for the last match of the season.
The Redbacks have been standouts this season, but Saints haven't been too far behind.
Saints manager Mark Rogers is thankful his team is playing against quality opponents as the finals loom.
Not only are the remaining teams great tests for Saints, they will also provide good insight into where the team is at before the finals.
The Port team triumphed 2-1 over Lake the last time the sides met. Luke Rogers, Mark's son, scored twice in the victory.
"It was a good, tight game," Rogers senior said.
United needs to 'keep winning'
PORT United has no option but to just keep on winning its remaining matches in 2015. United takes on Taree Wildcats tomorrow at Dixie Park.
Coach Chris Walsh was sweating on the health of midfielder Lucas Heagney this week.
Heagney had a knee problem which was the result of a couple of weekends ago.
Captain Andy Collins is back from working and ready to play tomorrow.
Walsh said United was raring to go.
"The guys are motivated to get a win against Wildcats," he said.
Saints beat Wildcats 3-0 recently, and United beat Saints by the same margin.
Going by that logic, Walsh was expecting a win.
Port FC playing for pride
PORT FC has nothing but pride to play for in 2015.
Well and truly out of finals contention, the team is just looking to finish strongly and start focusing on 2016.
Coach Tony Wilson will look to start a couple of youngsters in the match against Kempsey Saints tomorrow.
Wilson wouldn't let on who he had in mind.
There will be further motivation for FC next weekend in the final match of the season against Port United.
The Blue Boys have already knocked off the Green Bloods once in 2015.
"To beat them twice, that would be nice," Wilson said.
