Mullen and teammates David Carney, Mitch Cooper and Mateo Poljak visited Port Macquarie on Monday as the Jets looked to connect with new fans.
It was part of a six-day, 1000km tour which took in Taree, Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour, Armidale and Tamworth.
The visit comes in the midst of pre-season training for the Jets, who are looking to improve on last season. The Jets posted just three wins in 2014-15.
Motivation to improve on that is high, but the Jets have the Westfield FFA Cup round of 32 match to contend with first.
They will take on Glory at Magic Park, Broadmeadow, on August 11.
The Jets have a new coach this season in Scott Miller, and new owners means a fresh start for the team and supporters, according to Mullen.
“It’s a fresh start for the team and the community,” Mullen, who has just signed on for another two years, said.
Miller is assisted by Jean Paul de Marigny. Mullen said they had been brilliant so far, and that’s reflected in the team’s training.
“Training has been intense,” he said. “And the mood amongst the boys has been really positive.”
Mullen couldn’t wait for the cup to kick off. He said the concept which mimicked the English FA Cup was “brilliant”, especially when the professional teams came up against the amateurs.
“You’ve got players who have never played professionally before, and for them, it’s a good gauge to see where they’re at,” he said.
