The excuse for various projects not being able to proceed is because of lack of funds, the river bank rectification (at Rocks Ferry) and the new pool just two examples.
Motorists see the “Elephant Truck” patching potholes, a tip truck in front and at the rear to warn motorists.
This means three expensive vehicles and three employees doing a third rate job.
Blaming the state and federal governments for their troubles is also an excuse they use. Every job should go to tender.
Other councils, such as Kyogle, have devised a practical way of replacing bridges to save huge amounts of money.
Shoalhaven Council successfully encouraged heavy earth moving firms working in their area to help with the building of a swimming pool.
Let’s hope councillors are prepared to be a bit more practical and innovative in the use of rate payers funds in the future.
