Down Under night club, an institution for Hastings partygoers for 40 years has played its last round of karaoke and booted out its last patron with the owners calling its quits following the retirement of long-time licensee Max Gunsberger.
Almost everyone, who is legally able to, will have a hazy Down Under memory and there are many more who are likely not to admit to having ever stepped inside the cavern on Short Street.
The future of the site is unknown with agents preparing to put the venue on the market to gauge interest.
It may not have always been the most desirable of places to end a Saturday night but for many, the closure of the venue will no doubt raise many a fond or regrettable memory.
