McIlveen has won a staggering number of prizes across a raft of competitions this year.
In January he was awarded the Golden Laureate Award at the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
The same weekend he managed to snare a finals placing by waxing lyrical onstage in the Golden Damper Poetry Performance Award.
In April he made his presence felt at the Australian Bush Poetry Championships in Corryong, Victoria.
He took home gold and silver in the Written Serious Poem category, as well as a bronze in the Written Humorous Poem section. The stunning run saw him awarded Written Poetry Champion, 2015.
Just last week he captured another prize, this time in the state's Central West.
His piece titled A Call To Arms was awarded third prize at the Orange Banjo Paterson Literary Awards in the Bush Poetry category.
Mr McIlveen is keen to imp rove on his skills as an orator, he said, because "I want to become a better performer".
"That way I can deliver not only my own work, but also that of the grand masters including C.J. Dennis, Henry Lawson and Banjo Paterson," he said.
The Port Macquarie resident encouraged people to pop their head in every second and fourth Sunday of the month at Senior Citizens' Hall on Munster St.
The Port Macquarie Min strels and Poets meet there from 1pm.
"Anybody who would like to come along and share a poem, song or yarn is welcome," Mr McIlveen said.
"Even if you are not performing, then you are still most welcome to come along and join us."
